Big Sean Plans To Release Mixtape Before “Finally Famous”

With his debut album Finally Famous landing in stores on June 28th, Big Sean plans on giving fans a treat before it drops. Speaking with XXL, the Detroit, Michigan native revealed that he plans on putting out a nine- or 10-track mixtape in the next few weeks.

“We might do a little something strictly for the fans. For the people who’ve been riding with me. I hate to be confined to like putting 10 or 11 songs on the album. So I’m just trying to flood the market. I’m trying to do it big,” he said.

He explained that there were a lot of songs that didn’t make it on the album due to sample clearances and red tape, but they might find a home on the mixtape. “There’s a lot of songs that couldn’t make the album, there’s a lot of songs that couldn’t get sample clearances and shit like that. I was really pissed off about it. A lot of people couldn’t be on the album,” he continued. “I’m going to do something special for the people, man, it is what it is.”

While past tapes have featured an abundance of track, he’s keeping it trimmed. “Not too many. It’s going to be strictly for my fans. I usually drop like 20 songs on the tape, but it’s probably going to be like nine or 10.”

    1. This dude looks like a crackhead hipster that just looted a costume jewelry store in that video. Anyway about time his album is coming out, it’s been years.

    2. He should make EP since it only going to have 9 or 10 tracks. Drake had put So Far Gone originally released as a mixtape and debut it as a EP which create more buzz ,it was the fifth best selling rap album of 2009 and it went Gold.

    3. Also that had only 7 tracks and also Bad Meets Evil ”Eminem and Royce ” have their EP Hell: The Sequel coming out too on June 14, 2011 will has 9 tracks. Also I hope Big Sean does coming out with his album on June 28th.

    4. these new niggas, man! why the heck would you put out FREE music before u start charging in 2 weeks? come on, son!!! and do the producers know that you are about to leak their tracks? dude these niggas’ business acumen is NONEXISTENT!!!

    5. I might be the only person that thinks this dude is a joke…he’s not a good representation of Detroit…on top of that his music is shitty

    6. I like his mixtapes. In 2011, it’s more difficult for artists to sell units and he don’t have a major buzz. He is in a tough spot.

    7. Alot of people just straight up hating as if they know the dude personally. If you aint like him, pay no mind, thats the best way to injure the artists you don’t like, even being a critic gives them shine.

Don’t think the boy Sean got enough buzz to move many units, he had that ish with Chris but Breezy stole the show as far as mainstream concerned, but ima get the mixtape and if album sounds good enough, might cop that too, if not, stick to the bootleg – Won’t support bullshit, that’s why Cole finna get my paper.

    8. Enuff witda stupid mixtapes already,. i aint even anticipating dis dude, if you aint J. Cole u might as well fall back
