Raekwon Speaks On What Attributes Contribute To Success

Raekwon recently spoke on what attributes contribute to success, explaining what it takes to achieve your goals. Chopping it up with SHHO, the Wu-Tang member shared that it’s not only about your dedication to your craft, but also the people around you.

“Just hard work, man. Like I said, surrounding yourself with a strong faculty of guys. That’s one or two who bring out the best in each one of us,” he said. “Wu-Tang was built like that. We all felt, at the end of the day, that we all had a certain piece of energy that helped what we all was trying to do. And everybody just went at it the best way that they could do it and used they mind. So to me, as long as you’re surrounding yourself with people that’s coming with great ideas and really want to have something to prove and achieve, that’s when you know you’re going in the right direction.”

He also shared that confidence is key when it comes to success. “And to me, confidence always makes anything successful. Confidence. So if I sat here and said to myself this is what I want to do and I know I can do it if I put my mind to it, and then I got my peoples constantly around me adding nothing but positive things and great energy, it’s going to happen,” he continued. “We’re going to go outside and something’s going to guide us in that direction to showing us that what we want to do is going to make it. So it’s always confidence.”

The Chef explained what the phrase “word is bond” means to him. “That’s one of the biggest words to me. Because bond to us is life. when you put your word on something, that’s your bond. It’s like dealing with stocks and bonds, but now it’s verbally. It’s valuable when you say these words right here because your bond to us is your life. You give your life, you give your bond. Your bond is everything that you built and everything that you stand for that you care about.”

    1. very good watch. always great to hear the wu drop some real knowledge. much love and respect to raekwon and the wu

      1. Probably thinking about the release of Cuban Linc part 2. And imo, it was the best album in 2009. Album of the year.

      2. Cuban Linx 2, best album of 09 without a doubt.

Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, one of the best releases this year.

      3. All he did in 2009 marked his reemergence to the broader hip-hop audience, him being featured on other artists songs, his mixtape grind, his concerts & live performances and putting the highly acclaimed Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2.And he was also involved in a lot of actions with social & cultural impact.

    2. You have to say that Rae is one of the few emcees from the 90’s era that is still dropping heat right now. (maybe busta, nas, ghost as well?)

      1. Yeah Busta has been trash lately… Last dope project he dropped was that “I bullshit you not” mixtape…

    3. When Rick Ross or Lil Wayne rap about selling drugs and being a gangster people say they’re fake. When the 40 year old Raekwon raps about doing this shit for 15+ years people call him “real” and “hard”. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx was a classic album but the 2nd one was garbage. Nas, Jay-Z, and Ghostface all changed their subject matter as they got older and more mature. Raekwon’s been rapping about the same shit with the same flow for decades damn.

    4. Rae never disapoints, I’m about ready for some next shit. Keep doing you Rae, you got Wutang on your shoulders right now!!

    5. Always got respect for him, he seems like a good guy and sounds humble, he reminds of Cormega.
