A year ago it would have been hard to imagine a more unlikely Indie Rock act to be embraced by Hip Hop than Modest Mouse, the shambolic Portland-based band. But that’s exactly what happened. First, Lupe Fiasco sampled the group’s hit song “Float On” for the Gold-selling first single from his Lasers LP, “The Show Goes On” Now Modest Mouse turned the tables and recruited a Hip Hop heavyweight to work on their next album.

Outkast emcee/producer Big Boi recently tweeted that he and his longtime engineer Chris Carmouche were in the studio with the group, helping them complete their record. And he was highly complimentary of the band.

Big Boi also announced another planned, high profile collaboration recently, this one involving himself, Pill, and Killer Mike. That album is currently in production, no release date has, as of yet, been announced.
