The LAPD are investigating a shooting that took place Friday night the notorious intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson in Los Angeles. Rapper Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, and his former manager Eugene “Big U” Henley got into an altercation that lead to police involvement.
Nispey and Big U worked together when the 25 year old emcee was signed with Cinematic/Epic records in 2007. While Nipsey has yet to release his oft-delayed debut South Central State of Mind, they did release several mixtapes together.
The altercation between the former business partners escalated quickly. According to eye witnesses, Nipsey’s brother, Samiel Asghedom pulled out a gun and fired into the air to end the conflict. LAPD then arrived on the scene and an officer fired a shot at Samiel, but did not hit him.
LAPD Sergeant Ron Lopez told streetgangs.com that five people were taken into custody.
