Tupac Biopic Holding Online Auditions for Lead Role

After the success of 2009’s Biggie biopic Notorious, Hollywood turned its sights to the BK legend’s one-nemesis Tupac Shakur. Now, according to TooFab.com, the producers behind the upcoming flick chronicling the life of the infamous Death Row emcee have announced that they will be holding online auditions for the lead role.

Beginning this Monday March 21, Stee.TV and the film’s production company Morgan Creek will be accepting five minute long audition videos from potential 2Pacs through their website. The casting call will last throughout the next month.

“[We’re] looking for someone with the right mix of raw charm and charisma for the role,” said producer David Robinson. “At this point, we’re more concerned about finding someone with the ability to give their entire heart into the performance than just looks and personality.”

According to Morgan Creek, the film, which will be helmed by Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, will follow “the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip hop artist and actor, as well as his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records, where he was steeped in the East Coast /West Coast rap war.”

    1. Just don’t get the guy who played Tupac in the Notorious movie. He was awful. He didn’t look, act, or sound anything like Pac. The only real good part of the Notorious movie was the guy who played biggie. He did an amazing job. The movie was terrible though. which hurts me to say because I love Big and was really looking forward to that one.

      1. I agree with you about the cat that played Pac. The scenes he was in were awkward and he looked/acted like a tag along groupie rather than a real dude. He had no presence whatsoever. It reminds me of the “Get Money” video with the chic playin’ Faith, lol. If Big was alive for the movie, Puff & Big probably woulda hired that guy to make Pac look like a spoof, lol.

But Notorious was an alright movie. A few good scenes made it feel like a documentary and it was pretty informative for the new jacks comin’ up to kind of keep the legacy alive. Peace.

    2. this movie will suck!!! nobody can really act tupac, any actor playing him him is wack. why did they even start the film the movie when they dnt even have a tupac yet!! it like makeing a movie bout elvis!!!

      1. you’ll have get 30 year old Orson Welles who played a 60something old man in citizen kane, his makeup works wonder lol

      2. I was thinking the same thing but then i gotta say that if they can pull off what they did with Walk the line it might be dope. But in the end i think it will take a whole lot to come correct on this one. pz.

    3. @Jaz, lol James Avery would be hilarious a Suge Knight and he certainly has the quick temper and intensity to pull it off. As for Tupac I think they should stick with Anthony Mackie he’s a great actor and after all if he was good enough to play Tupac once (and did a good job of it), he should be cast to do it again.

    4. If this talent search to play Pac is the real deal and not just some Hollyweird promo/marketing tool then its a good look for upcoming actors.

If it is real, the reason they are looking because there’s really no 1 on the scene that can truly pull off Pac because if it was, then they’d been hired their man.

But yeah this search is gonna be hilarious – like a damn American Idol for Black men, haha.

    5. this is dope news
      i wanna see this movie
hope its better than Notorious that shit was kinda corny .

this should be more powerful with the prison scene and deathrow days and all

This is my Afro Warrior poem for you,
It is just because you dserve it

The African Warrior and his Lover

His feet follows the steps his ancient ancestors sketched.
The power of his steps portray his might that’s unmatched.
His footsteps set in the gentle ground of crimson and grey,
the same ground his lover tenderly kneads into African clay.

With quiet serenity she works the ground between her hands.
Gently her fingers caress memories of battles left in the sands.
Her thoughts are swayed toward her African warrior’s face,
and how her love wiped away all of battle’s disgrace.

The last of daylight stretches across the African plains.
Gathering clouds above threaten of early summer rains.
With these simple gestures the earth and sky caress each other.
Sweetly resembling the African warrior and his lover.

      Afrika,I am Warrior

The drum beats to the awakening of yet another day
I awake and to my knees i kneel
Look up to heaven and pray.
The cork craws at the sight of the sun
The lion awakes and takes move to the hill
Looks down the landscape at his prey.

Each day his eyes meet destiny
His paws tread the path to a meal
      His scent marks his presence
      His roar speaks to him
And his pride look onto him.

In Afrika they say a warrior is born a lion
With 5 things that distinguish him
Pride ;he will protect with spear and heart
Roar ;he will make his presence felt,he was born and placed apart
Face ;a scare you will never dare start a fight
Scent ;his stink marks his belongings in sight
And his Paw; with it he lets the world know, the future is bright.
