Emcee-turned-actor Ice Cube is reportedly in talks for a starring role in the upcoming film adaptation of popular 1980s FOX series, 21 Jump Street. The N.W.A. alum would join Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum if the parties can come to agreement, according to entertainment website Deadline.com.

Reports indicate that Cube, who launched his film career 20 years ago in John Singleton’s Boyz N’ The Hood, would be playing the precinct captain in the Sony Pictures film, a police role for the emcee who famously rapped “Fuck The Police” in N.W.A.’s 1988 hit.

In addition, Cube is said to be looking to produce a film on car culture in Los Angeles, Chrome and Paint. In films such as Boyz, as well as videos like “It Was A Good Day” and Westside Connection’s “Let It Rain,” Cube has appeared in lowrider cars, a popular west coast counter-culture dating back to the 1950s.
