Del the Funky Homosapien has announced the release of his triple CD set in April. The Oakland native will drop a brand new album, Golden Era, and two discs of physically unreleased tracks laid down in ’09, Automatik Statik and Funk Man. Golden Era will be his ninth solo album and will include his first single from the work, “One Out of A Million.”
Golden Era is set to release on April 19.
Moving from the left coast to the east, Philadelphia trio WrittenHouse released their debut album, While You Were Sleeping on Tuesday. The album is preceded by the group’s two mixtapes, Sunshine Philadelphia vol. 2: The WrittenHouse Effect, and Not The Album: The Mixtape.
Consisting of members Charlie K, Chris Conway, and Kush Shalimar, the group has performed alongside acts such as The Roots and Wu-Tang Clan, and is considered to be a progressive voice in a sometimes stagnant Hip Hop landscape.

Up-and-coming Atlanta group Rocklanta Fifty1Fifty also presents a fresh and interesting deviation from the norm. The Rap/Rock hybrid band has made a name for themselves, not only for their own music, but also for their mash-ups of popular Hip Hop songs like Rick Ross’ “BMF” and Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow.”
The group includes rapper Super Slip, guitarists Ben Greener and Hatch, screamer Erock, and drummer Zack. The Atlanta band will appear on MTV’s My Super Stuntin’ 21 Birthday Celebration with LA Reid’s son Aaron Reid, and are set to drop a mixtape this Friday, February 18.
