Outkast’s Big Boi, never one to bite his tongue, was recently interviewed by the Urban Nomad. As part of the interview, Sir Lucious Left Foot spoke on politics in Hip Hop and how emcees can steer to the positive side, avoiding a “darker force.”

Speaking on the recent political climate in Egypt, Big Boi opened up, saying that it was a great example of people taking control of power, when asked why emcees no longer mix political ideas with rhymes.

“It’s because the mainstream is controlled by a darker force…Positivity sometimes never gets to see the light of day. Egypt Egypt is a really true representation of power to the people. Imagine, in the United States right now, there’s a top one percent that are the richest people in the world and there’s 99% of us that are below that. The same thing that happened in Egypt can happen anywhere. I do mean, anywhere.”
