Virginia rapper Skillz has stepped into the world of acting with Byron a movie he both stars in and wrote. Byron focuses on Dee, a character played by Skillz, who is striving to better himself although he still deals drugs.

“It’s just about circumstances and life. When people end up meeting each other and inevitably their whole lives change,” Skillz explained to AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It’s just some things in life that you can’t change.”

Byron premiered last night at Virginia’s Cinema Café.

The heritage of black music at Atlantic Records is second to none in this industry, and it is both humbling and thrilling to take on this new post at a label with such an amazing legacy,” said Kyser, according to AllHipHop.com. “To be a part of the birth of the new Atlantic over the past seven years has been an extraordinary experience.”
