Masta Ace and Edo. G have nearly 50 combined years in the Hip Hop industry. The two emcees teamed up in 2009 to release Arts & Entertainment, and while talking to DJ Revolution for his “The Cut” viral series, revealed how they’ve managed to maximize their independent budget for nearly two years.

“Coming into this project, we knew that the promotion budget was very limited, and we had to be really creative about how we spent that money,” Masta Ace explained. “And we’re still spending that money.”

The duo has continued touring, and despite the A&E cable channel banning them from using the A&E title for their album. Ace and Edo G even landed a November 11 appearance on BET’s “106 & Park” as celebrity judges for Freestyle Fridays. The show aired the single “Little Young,” which served as another form of free promotion.

“I was pretty happy with the results,” Edo. G told DJ Revolution. “It was pretty tough. What you gotta do now is stay out on the road and stay promoting. Music is obviously not selling like it was selling, so you gotta have your hands in a lot of different things.”
