With a Top 5 album in My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Chicago, Illinois emcee/producer Kanye West has held Hip Hop’s spotlight in recent months. Although the notoriously outspoken West has remained tempered in recent months, that does not mean that his past is not still affecting him.

Yesterday, January 5, New York City-based photographer Michael Vazquez filed a suit against West in a Manhattan Supreme Court. Vazquez alleges that at a 2008 party at Guastavino’s on the East Side. According to The New York Post, by attending the party sponsored by G-Shock watches, West and other celebrity guests were allowing themselves to be photographed and filmed by press. Per the suit, “[Kanye West’s] agents, servants and/or employees acting in the course and within the scope of their employment, detained and/or threatened and/or caused plaintiff to suffer injuries.”

The 44 year-old Vazquez filed a police report one day after the incident in May of 2008, claiming his cell phone had been stolen and he had a dislocated shoulder. In that report, Kanye West was apparently not named – which he is in yesterday’s court filing.
