Eleven years ago, Virginia emcee Skillz released a controversial underground Hip Hop record, “Ghostwriter” that outed numerous star rappers the then-Rawkus Records artist had written verses for. Along with outing moguls like Jermaine Dupri and Diddy, Skillz named a 1980s emcee-turned-Hollywood actor in Will Smith. At the time, Smith had just released his Willenium album.
Skillz, who tours frequently with Smith’s longtime musical partner DJ Jazzy Jeff, has now confirmed writing for the leading actor’s daughter, Willow. In a new interview with BET.com, Skillz confirmed, “We’re working on some stuff for Willow Smith’s album.” Continuing, the emcee spoke about the opportunity. “It was just a natural progression like they’re doing music so, you know, that door’s always open. I’d be crazy not to try to walk through it, so we’re working on some stuff.”
In 2010, Skillz released his fifth solo album, The World Needs More Skillz.
