“FEDS has an edge that we’d like to bring to the Source,” said Source VP Tracii McGregor of one of the reasons behind Clark’s appointment as the Source’s new executive editor. When asked about what he’ll bring to the Source’s editorial department Antoine offered bluntly, “Grittiness. I got some shit… and you thought they were gritty enough.”

In the same decision, sitting executive editor Kim Osorio was promoted to Source editor-in-chief. Antoine’s duties as executive editor include looking over each issue with Kim, contributing story ideas, and helping coordinate the covers.

Antoine will continue to publish FEDS, and will have a short commute between jobs; for several years FEDS has operated out of the Source’s Park Ave. South building in Manhattan, through a long standing friendship with David Mays.

Rumors have been circulating for years of a Source buy-out in the works. Knowing his new post at the Source will only fuel such talk, Antoine asserts “This doesn’t have anything to do with them buying FEDS. That’s not how this came about. Not saying that that won’t happen, but that’s not this deal.”

The first glimpse into Antoine’s editorial influence will drop with the Feb. 2003 issue of the Source. “It’s gonna be hot,” said Antoine. That’s the one that’s gonna put all my ideas into play.”

No other staff changes are planned for the near future.
