    1. 2010 was a great year for hip hop a lot of good music (THE ROOTS, atmosphere, eligh, kno, celph titled, kanye, kendrick lamar, Murs, canibus, AZ, reflection eternal, little brother, big boi the list goes on) But 2010 belonged to DISTANT RELATIVES!!!! Come on everybody if the so called “hip hop” award shows in the bs mainstream wont give this album credit it’s a must that we do.

    2. From that list gotta go with Nas & Damian Marley- Distant Relatives. That album was epic and just what the world needed at the time.
Kid Cudi’s “Man On The Moon 2” should be on that list, along with Freeway & Jake One.

    3. WOW my favorite is the Roots 2 kanye 3 atmosphere which is not even on the list wtf serious 4 bigboi which was a suprise which it shouldnt be but it was but THE ROOTS CD got alot of play front to back

    4. The Roots… because I understand that live instrumentation surpasses studio/computer programs if you have an ear for it. Kanye may have had 3-4 producers on every song on his album but it still doesn’t have continuity like How I Got Over.

    5. HAD TO CHOOSE THE ROOTS ALBUM.
      WHERE IS…..
      CANIBUS – C OF TRANQILITY
      CNN – WAR REPORT 2
FAT JOE – DARKSIDE VOL 1
BONE THUGS – UNI5 THE WORLDS ENEMY
      BIZZY BONE – CROSSROADS 22010

AND IN MY OPINION THE BEST ALBUM OF 2010 –
RUSTE JUXX & MARCO POLO – THE EXXECUTION.
I GUESS I GOTTA WAIT FOR DJ PREMIER’S LIST.

    6. why are so many wack albums on the poll that shit was an easy choice The Roots all day…

    10. Distant Relatives is both the album and the collabo. That album is one of the best things to happen to hiphop the whole decade

    11. Dude, hop off the Distant Relatives bullshit. It’s overrated as the Drake album you’ll were all hyping up for before he signed with Young Money and only had 3 good songs. Same goes for Distant Relatives. Y’all niggas bashing on Lil Wayne yet he was featured. What about the pop sellout K’naan? Y’all diss Drake/B.o.B/Kid Cudi for singing and yet you praise him for even making songs with Justin Bieber? The only albums good here are Celph Titled, Eminem, The Roots, and Kanye. I hope one of the 4 I mentioned wins. Who the fuck thinks Nicki Minaj’s album was good? I would rather pick Drake or B.o.B’s album if you were going to pick a pop rap album, at least they had some good songs.

      1. your a dumbass. distant relitaves was a fucking great album. you dnt like it cuz yo white ass cant relate to it. but if you actually can relate to what nas and damian are actually saying then youd be saying something totally different. so shut yo ass up, and go cop the best collabo of the whole damn year. fuck you hater.

      2. Distant Relatives was trash. People should hop off Nas dick. I mean you motherfuckers have been on it since like ’94. He hasn’t made a decent song since One Mic.

      3. Lol @ anon… I’m not white. You think it’s good only because of Nas… if he was Damien Marley and let’s say Jay-Z or Lil Wayne, then you think it’s shit. Typical Nas Stan response. Want something different? Try Celph Titled and Buckwild’s Nineteen Ninety Now. It’s a tribute album to 90s hip hop. Now that’s a true collaboration album. Nas hasn’t made a good album since Stillmatic and even that album has Ether which was a childish diss to Jay-Z. Anytime when people think of homophobic terms like Gay-Z or Cock-A-Fella? C’mon, fuck that shit. Only a 16 year old loner who only listens to Jedi Mind Tricks or some overrated underground rap act thinks of those are clever disses.

      4. distant relatives was not trash bro. People may say lyrically he aint really saying anything new, but I mean – you mentioned Ether – look at Blueprint 3 and the subject matter on that. Brag rap and finally going at dissin rappers, a song about N.Y, opposites (venus vs mars), you get the point. At least Nas is trying some conscious enlightening stuff instead of doing the same old stuff lyrically. Say what you will about Nas, but he hasn’t made the same album twice.

      5. the difference is K’Naan doesn’t suck and he isn’t a sell out anyway,

but i agree with you on distant relatives that album was overrated by nas fans

      6. fuck up you white boy fakkit i hope you kill yourself.

Nas and Damian Marley made a album start to finish the best this year!!! atcually listen to the album and don’t be a ignorant piece of shit!

      1. yeah its sad …. KNO and Eligh have both over 4.60 from users .. but not on list.
BUT BUT BUT BUT ATTENTION .. NICKIN MINAJ IS ON

        fuckin commercial

    12. The Drake snub is shocking. I mean unbelievably shocking. Granted, a lot of the other people on the list had way better albums (See: Kanye/Big Boi) but nonetheless If we are talking about rap releases this year we are talking about: Drake, Kanye, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Big Boi, and Lil Wayne.

      1. The Drake snub is completely understandable…This is a Hip-Hop website, the poll does not say vote for cheeziest pop album of the year. The only albums you listed that were any good were Kanye and Big Boi because they made attempts to push the boundaries of commercial Hip-Hop, not do the same old tired, boring pop bullshit like Drizzy, Em, Minaj and Lil Stayne. Im a huge Nas fan but although the lyrical content was good, it wasnt that memorable. Roots had one of the best albums of the year no doubt. Black Milk should be up there too.

      2. Ok… if HipHopDX picked albums based on lyrical talent why the fuck would Nicki Minaj be nominated. Drake’s got more lyrics even though that was back in his mixtape days before he was signed to Young Money. Best Album was My Beautiful Dark Twisted Album, I know Nicki was on it but at least she actually spit something good. But production is amazing. Lyrically, I can let some stupid lyrics slide but the music is the reason why I listen to it. It’s called listening to music not reading lyrics. That’s why Kanye’s album was good and Big Boi was decent at best.

    13. 2 best were Skyzoo “Live from the Tape Deck” and Talib & Hi Tek “Revolutions Per Minute”

Come on son. I voted for Kanye because it was ill, but this year had a lot of good shit with the Roots, Big Boi, and all the other options on here

    14. Where the hell is the Stimulus Package? Free may not have had the top top album of the year but it damn sure deserves to be on this list of nominees

    15. 1. Nas & Damian Marley – Distant Relatives
      2. Celph Titled & Buckwild – Nineteen Ninety Now

This album features C RAYZ WALZ, LIL DAP of the GROUP HOME, AKIL THE MC, JOHN ROBINSON, WILDELUX & MORE!!!!!

    20. No Fat Joe? Really, I know that Joey Crack’s name is not that nice these days but yo, his album was ill. He put SO much effort into that joint, and was rockin from front to back.

    21. I vote for The Left “Gas Mask” – Album of Year
Apollo Brown for producer of the Year

Though much respect to all the candidates and of course to HHDX for doing things right!

    22. plss dont make eminem or nicki minaj win guys….. on those awards we can chose so it doesnt have to be who mainstrema already chose

      im for nas&damien marley
cause mos def wasnt on the list

    23. No Drake? Its pretty obvious he killed it this year. Nicki Minaj better than Drake’s Thank Me Later? Hmm….You dis Drake’s album becuase its pop and you got an inferior pop album on there? Get real

      1. drake album was weak and everybody knows it didn’t live up to the hype. stop making that jew into something hes not.

    24. Nas & Damian Marley – Distant Relatives is bye far the best album this year. its deserves its props. and Damian spit the best verse this year as well.

    25. They have Devin the Dude’s CD on the list, but not Reflection Eternal’s RPM? That should’ve at least been nominated. I got respect for Devin, but damn near all of his songs are about weed & fucking. And if K.R.I.T. Wuz Here is not Mixtape of the Year (or at least one of the Runner-Ups), I will lose even more faith in hip hop.

    26. I swear it is almost an impossible task to chose the best one, since let’s face it, 2010 was probably the best year in hip hop in the last decade, so many instant classics came out. I voted for The Roots, since I think it’s their best effort yet, incredible lyrics and no damn fillers, as they used to let in their albums. Nas & Damian Marley are close runners-up, and Kno third, very sad he ain’t on the list while that pop crap from Minaj is there. A very bad joke in the end. Fourth was Big Boi and then Eminem, but I yet have to listen to Celph Titled. The Left, Roc Marciano, Eligh also released damn classics this year, so that’s why I say it’s such a hard decision to chose the best one.

    27. album of da year: my beautiful dark twisted fantasy
producer of da year: kanye west
comeback of da year: kanye west

labels of da year: ROC NATION/GOOD MUZIK BITCH!

      1. haha are yall for real? jay fell off hard, and Ye’s album IS the best album of the year but DAMN are you on GOOD music’s collective dick. Cudi’s album sucked that same dick hard.

      2. and good job using homophobic stereotypes to diss the people you don’t like idiot

you hated on wayne and em. maybe cuz they have powerful labels aside from the Jay/Ye camp? the days of bein loyal to labels are done fuckin tards

    28. I really liked How I Got Over by The Roots. However i also really liked Eminem’s Recovery. I gave Eminem the vote because it was a big improvement over his last two albums. Distant Relatives was a very good album and i wanted to give it the vote also especially since Nas is one of my favorite rappers. All I know is Kanye or Nicki Minaj better not win even tho Kanyes album was pretty good.

    29. Also The Mixtape of the Year should be J. Cole’s Friday Night Lights. That mixtape is about as good as an album.

    30. What the hell was kat williams talking about roswell 1942
charles manson is the new michael jackson full of shit
      fistula the new anus
just bought 10 peaches for a $1 in south france y usted
stop looking at me get your own damn westside

      Rip dr pepper
mannie fresh chinese or new african
      i regret i was born i can’t wait till i die

    31. NAS AND DAMAIN MARLEY HAD THE BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR WITH DISTANT RELATIVES. NO ONES COMPARES TO THAT FIYAH!!! PURE FIYAH!!!
There aint no stoppin or crusin, even when your battered and bruised. Out run all the sprinters on MT. Olympus, my God’s tougher than ZEUS!!!

    32. Hiphop DX says readers choice meaning the people who views this website…..wheres Shad’s “TSOL” Album i mean it ranked higher than practically all of these albums and KNO isnt on it Either and those two artists albums are the highest User/Reader Reviewed albums

    33. #1 My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, #2 How I Got Over, #3 Distant Relatives.
You have serious mental problems or no taste if at least 1 of these 3 albums isnt in your top 3.

Big Boi’s Is great and another for all you haters is Officer Ricky, easily his best record.

And BTW Kanyes album better get at least 10 grammys nod’s for 2012 because eminem got 10 this year for an overrated album.

    34. So is this poll for 2nd best album? Considering the years best album (Thank Me Later) is inauspiciously left off this list, that is the only reasonable explanation I can come up with.

    35. album of the year: My Beautful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Producer of the year: Kanye West
Comeback of the year: 50 Cent
Mixtape of the Year: Mood Muzik 4
Trend I’d Like To See die: lex luger beats
Slept on album of the year: Freeway nd Jake one:stimulus package
Verse of the year: Lupe Fiasco first verse in show goes on
Non hiphop album of the year: Bruno Mars’ DW&H
Most Dissapointing album of the year: Battle of the Sexes
Rising star of the year: Big Sean/XV
Collabo of the year: Im Beamin Remix
Tour of the year: jay-z/eminem tour
      Video of the year: Runaway
