With filming already underway, Queen Latifah and Flavor Unit Entertainment will premiere Single Ladies next July on the Vh1 network. The scripted show will be based around a group of Atlanta women that are dealing with relationships, fashion and the entertainment industry. Written by Stacy Littlejohn and directed by Tamra Davis, Vh1 spokespeople are calling this show the first of its kind for the music network.
The show stars Stacey Dash, the veteran actress who has appeared on music videos such as Kanye West’s “All Falls Down,” as well as videos from Carl Thomas and Marques Houston. Additionally, Latifah has confirmed guest appearances from several of her music and film peers. Guests for the for the first season include Chicago emcee/actor Common, Philadelphia emcee/actor Eve, TLC’s Chili, and actors Lauren London and Kim Porter.
“I think Single Ladies will really fill a hole in what is needed on television today,” said Queen Latifah in a statement.
