As if fans needed more of a reason to be excited about the release of Jay-Z’s upcoming book Decoded, the legendary Brooklyn, New York emcee has upped the proverbial ante. Jay has teamed up with Microsoft’s search engine Bing and creative agency Droga5 to create a global scavenger hunt in order to promote his book, which hits stores November 16.
Using Bing’s search engine capabilities, Jay and company will create what’s been called a “…multiplatform search experience and interactive game,” a virtual scavenger hunt of sorts that will clue fans into the location of a select page of the book. Each page from Hova’s upcoming 300-page book will be scattered about in specific places in 15 different cities around the world.
Fans who find the pages can then text a unique code found on each page and will be automatically entered into a contest. Up to 200 prizes will be awarded, including one grand prize of two tickets to see Jay-Z and Coldplay ring in the New Year with a performance in Las Vegas. Five to ten pages will be revealed each day, lasting from October 18 until November 20.
