Asher Roth talked with VIBE about the progress of his still in-the-works follow up to 2009’s Asleep In the Bread Aisle, the equally whimsically-titled The Spaghetti Tree. The suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania emcee mentioned his intention to create a multi-faceted album saying, “Hip Hop, from my own experience, is such an important voice for the youth. If we just keep talking about the stuff that doesn’t matter, all the materialism, the kids are going to still grow up on that shit. I want to still make fun music, but throw some content in there too.”
Roth revealed that the album is 60% done and will feature production from Pharrell [Williams], Organized Noize, Nottz, and Ryan Leslie. Despite the eclectic list of beat-makers Roth insists, “It’s going to be one sound though as a whole. I’m really being methodical with this project. That’s kind of my mission statement.”
At present, Roth is signed to SRC/Universal Records.
