Today it was announced that New York Spring Water, Inc. will partner with Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere’s Flavor Unit Entertain in an effort to expand the company’s product globally. Flavor Unit now owns a stake in the beverage company.

In a statement, Shakim Compere said, “[Queen] Latifah and I are really excited about this partnership. New York Spring Water is an innovative company and is definitely at the forefront of new product developments in the industry.” Other sources have also revealed that the marketing company United Entertainment Group is also a part of the investment team.

With the company’s flagship product, VBlast becoming increasingly popular in the vitamin water market, the partnership will yield company products to soon appear at 7-Eleven in coming weeks.

Flavor Unit began in New Jersey during the late ’80s as a Rap crew led by Latifah and deejay/producer 45 King. Subsequently, the label and group expanded in the 1990s to include artists such as Naughty By Nature, Benzino’s Almighty RSO and the late Apache. In the last decade, Flavor Unit has expanded into film and licensing.
