For a decade, southern underground Hip Hop outfit The Cunninlynguists have released pensive but street-friendly Rap records with the likes of Freddie Gibbs, Devin The Dude, Cee-Lo and Braille. The trio of Deacon Da Villain, Natti and Kno have balanced lyrical and production duties in the past, with the Atlanta-based Kno taking on a bulk of the group’s sound since 2008. The veteran who’s produced for Tonedeff, Pack FM and Oktober in the past will release his lyrical debut, Death Is Silent on October 8, 2010.
After only four verses on the last four Cunninlynguists releases, Kno’s album will find the producer returning to his emcee background. The album is reportedly themed about mortality and its relationship to love and family, a topic that Kno’s known for, dating back to 2001’s Will Rap For Food. He produced all of the album’s songs.
With pre-orders happening at DeathIsSilent.com, Kno has also created a specially packaged edition of the album. The “Obituary Package” includes an autographed CD, a t-shirt, a sticker, a poster, a key-chain and coffin packaging. The Obituary Package is limited to 200 orders, so pre-order now.
In other news, several Decon Records are joining forces for an upcoming west coast tour. Headed by Latyrx’s Lyric Born, The Auto-Reverse Tour will also feature Dilated Peoples’ Rakaa and former Jurassic 5 front-man Chali 2na.
With 2na and Rakaa having recently released albums on Decon, (Fish Market 2 and Crown of Thorns respectively), the Berkeley, California emcee Lyrics Born will release As U Were on October 26, 2010.
