Raekwon Talks Kanye, Justin Bieber Collaboration

It’s not an overstatement to say Justin Bieber’s “Runaway Love” remix featuring Kanye West and Raekwon may go down as 2010’s most surprising collaboration. After thousands of downloads and listens via HipHopDX and other sites Raekwon weighed in with New York Magazine‘s Vulture blog about his unexpected contribution to the Pop music lexicon.

“It’s been a couple of mixed feelings on the net,” Rae said. “It’s all good. It makes me laugh to know how people feel about certain things, but for the most part, everybody appreciated it. You almost feel like somebody wants to down you, but then when they hear it, it’s like you can’t really speak bad about it.”

Raekwon added that he appreciated the chance to connect with a younger audience, and that he was a bit surprised that Bieber knew his infamous “Chef” moniker. The end result was no doubt some increased visibility after gaining critical acclaim for both 2009’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II and this year’s Wu Massacre project.

To that end, Rae is promoting the gold deluxe edition of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, while working on the Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang project. To read more about Raekwon’s possible collaborations with Nas, Eminem and Kanye West, check out the full Vulture interview.

    1. he dont know shit about the chef, he heard kanye say it

i will give raekwon a pass this once if he has a daughter or something that listens to beebs

    2. Keep the criticism to urself. Kids what, 16. Gonna be bigger than Timberlake. All i can say is keep ur southern border protected. Up north in Canada we taking all ur money. U got a major recession musically & financially in the US cuz u put out garbage. Cars, Music ect. 1/10 the size & Canada got Nelly Furtado, Michael Buble, Nickelback, Drake, Justin Bieber all at the top of there genre. Throw in Kardinal & Melanie Fiona killing everything they touch aswell. Keep hating cuz i would too if I had to listen to Soulja boy, New Boyz, Pretty Ricky all day down south.

      1. u jus named off all whack ass fukin artist dude, an he will never be close to as big as timberlake, dumb ass canadian

      2. If sg1323 mean whack ass fucking rich artist that sell records in the millions & have jealous ass broke americans continue to criticize then ur right. I will take Carrie Underwood under my flag since she married a hockey star, how bout scarlett johansson who married Ryan Reynolds, or Mike comrie who married hillary duff. Or vince vaughn who married a real estate agent from canada. This dumb ass canadian is damn proud not to be american.

      3. Haha you’re lame. Did you get beat up by Americans or somethin? lol go sit in the corner for a few hours, you’re on time out.

    3. A good look for the chef, surprising look for JB,doesnt seem to mesh well but if it keeps the wu in the public eye and it makes the youngins learn about the clan then good.

      1. You’d be ripping God off, and he knows this.

Because he knows everything. If he wanted them, he’d have taken them by now, but instead we get to deal with them till they or we die.

    4. remember mcs use to say ”hardcore then they go pop”

It doesnt make me angry, it just saddens me to see how hip hop has turned out to be.

If 2pac was still alive hip hop would’ve been in a whole different direction.

    5. if your whole circle is telling “this is hot, its good!” then why go against them?

the thing is the people who were criticizing you are your biggest fans, no one wants to bring you down jus not go the pop whatever is currently hot isnt always good. THIS SONG WILL NEVER GP DOWN AS A CLASSIC, the cornyness overshadows the ill!

    6. artists these days are so desperate for sales and relevance that they are tossing their artistic integrity out the window for a lil attention. any clown can gas em up and they will lend a verse to whatever and whomever and use “reaching a greater audience” as an excuse. You think Chef would have done this back in the days when Wu was at their peak??
Our heroes are dying, both literally and figuratively.

    7. God,
Please kill rap now and end this slow bleed. I can’t watch it anymore. Get the gun, drag this dying dog out behind the shed, and put him out of his misery.

      Thank You
