Earlier this week it was announced that Hip Hop/Pop producer will.i.am will join the Grammy Foundation in a directing role. The Black Eyed Peas leader was named director of the Grammy Foundation, along with singer/songwriter Darryl Brown, Daniel Cherry of Anomaly and Michael Rapino of Live Nation.

The Foundation promotes the appreciation of recorded music with the public through a number of engagement mediums. There is no word yet as will’s specific duties or initiatives.

Earlier this year, will.i.am.’s group, The Black Eyed Peas broke the digital download sales record, retaining two of the Top Five Most Downloaded Songs of All Time. The Los Angeles native recently worked with singer Kelis on her Flesh Tone album.
