Somalian-Canadian artist K’Naan recently received a 2010 Teen Choice Award nomination for “Rap/Hip Hop Track” for his single “Wavin’ Flag.” The record is from his 2009 album Troubadour and reached the No. 1 position in over 17 countries. The song was also chosen as the official track of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Teen Choice Awards airs Monday, Aug. 9 at 8P.M. E.T.

In other news, Complex Magazine recently profiled Noah “40” Shebib, the producer/engineer of most of rapper Drake’s music. The music maker holds much in common with Drake, including his career as a child actor. “40 is everything to me,” said Drake. “Without 40, I don’t know what I would do.”

40 has starred in television shows like Goosebumps in the 90s, as well as the critically acclaimed film The Virgin Suicides.

In addition, Inner Loop Records and Natioal Producers League is holding the King of the Beltway 3, inviting Hip Hop producers to battle for a cash prize, a Native Instruments machine, and other gifts.
