Rap superstar Lil Wayne presently remains incarcerated on Rikers Island for drug and weapons convictions. The multi-platinum rapper and Young Money Records founder may be out as soon as late this year, but reports state he will have to wait to see his 12 year-old daughter Reginae Carter.

Reginae’s mother and Wayne’s ex-wife Toya Carter told VIBE that the estranged couple made an agreement to not permit the adolescent from visiting her father in the New York prison. “That’s no place for a kid to go…[Wayne and I] just decided not to let her go [to Riker’s Island], period. She’s never been. He makes sure he talks to his daughter everyday, talking and writing is enough.”

In previous interviews, Toya, star of her own BET reality show, Tiny and Toya, has commended Wayne as a father, and his ability to juggle stardom and his daughter.

Wayne’s first official, Young Money artist release, Drake’s Thank Me Later, was unveiled earlier this week.
