Apart from a few scant appearances like on N.E.R.D.’s “She Wants to Move (Native Tongues Remix)” with Common, Mos Def and Q-Tip, fans of the Native Tongues movement have been hard pressed to find members of the early-90s collective working with one another. Lucky for listeners, however, Black Sheep’s upcoming album From the Black Pool of Genius will once again find the Native Tongues in the studio together on the song “Birds of a Feather.”

Produced by newcomer Tough Junkie and featuring Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, Trugoy of De La Soul and Mike Gee of the Jungle Brothers, Dres of Black Sheep explained that the song is musical – and given his familial relation to Q-Tip – and literal family reunion.

“It’s a long time coming,” he said. “‘Birds of a Feather’ represents the beauty and strength of kinship and unity. It’s even greater when your family is dope.”
