English Dance music duo Coldcut may be best known by Rap fans for their famed 1986 remix of Eric B. & Rakim‘s “Paid In Full.” In the years since that epic Island Records remix, Coldcut went on to create Ninja Tune. The London-based imprint has been in existence since 1990, and released a variety of Hip Hop projects, among other genres. Such artists have included turntablist Kid Koala, and instrumental projects from Blockhead and DJ Vadim, as well as vocal Rap releases from Spank Rock and Sixtoo.
On September 20th, Coldcut and their label will celebrate their twentieth anniversary with a box set titled Ninja Tune XX. The collection will feature six CDs of music. Two of those discs will be content exclusive to this collection. The packaging will also feature six 7″ singles, all of music exclusive to Ninja Tune XX, with a specially-designed inner-pocket containing a poster. The box also includes hardcover book, Ninja Tune: 20 Years of Beats & Pieces, named after Coldcut’s album of the same name.
Within the musix exclusives comes new music from Roots Manuva, DJ Vadim, Coldcut and Kid Koala. Additionally, the collection boasts unheard remixes from El-P, Cut Chemist and Gaslamp Killer.
Earlier this year, Ninja Tune released Blockhead’s The Music Scene.
