Conflicting accounts in the murder of 21-year-old Atlanta rapper Dolla have been raised in the trial against Aubrey Louis Berry, the man charged with the young rapper’s murder.

Prosecutors have described the shooting of Dolla, real name Roderick Anthony Burton II, as a well thought out, calculated murder by Berry.

“Roderick was senselessly gunned down by Aubrey Berry in a hail of gunfire,” said Deputy District Attorney Robert Grace, according to the Associated Press.

Berry’s defense attorney, Howard Price, has described the shooting as a case of pure self-defense stating that before the shooting Dolla told Berry, “Today, you’re going to die.”

Price even plans on using Dolla’s lyrics as evidence of the rappers violent image. A weapon was never found on Dolla at the scene of the crime although the body had been moved by friends of the rapper.

Dolla was gunned down on May 18, 2009 outside of the Beverly Center. He was shot at eight times by Berry with four bullets hitting the rapper.
