With the critical success of Raekwon‘s fourth solo album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, the rapper is ending the year off quite nicely. Among those who have praised the album’s delivery and content are MTV, who placed the Wu-Tang Clan member on itsHottest MCs list, and iTunes, which has chosen the album as one of its editor’s top picks.
With the year finally wrapping up, TIME Magazine has recognized Raekwon’s sequel to his ’95 debut as one of the top 10 albums of the year. As the only Hip Hop artist on the list, Raekwon joins The-Dream and Lady Gaga, who also make the list.
“My album is one that I give all the credit to the fans that supported it,” Raekwon said in response to the recognition. “They remind me constantly that to them, I’m the illest. Their constructive criticism allowed me to pay attention to my craft and the end result was this classic. I appreciate TIME Magazine for recognizing my efforts and seeing the heart of a ghetto boy with a love for real music. Overall I embrace the support. Shout to the iTunes editors that counted me amongst their favorites and all the other Hip Hop sites all over the world that have declared this album to be the best.”
Raekwon recently signed Hip Hop group CNN to his record label IceH20, and is currently on tour with them.
