With the year 2009 wrapping up, it’s that time again to reminisce on music’s past follies and feats with a look back at some of the biggest music successes and failures of the past. While some have counted down the best and worst albums and artists of the year, Billboard.com gets nostalgic, taking a look back at the top one-hit wonders of the entire decade. The list counted down 39 songs that were once able to crack the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 with their first singles, but were never able to even reach the Top 25 again. As expected more than a few Hip Hop acts made the list.

Coming in at #2 is Terror Squad’s “Lean Back“, the 2004 hit that made it acceptable to not dance at the club. Led by Fat Joe, the group really did fall back as their next single “Take Me Home” reached only the #62 spot the same year.

Foursome D4L came in at the #5 spot with their chart topping hit “Laffy Taffy.” Peaking at #1 in 2006, the group never cracked the Top 25 again, but released a single called “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me,” which managed to reach #72 on the charts.

J-Kwon’s “Tipsy” also made the list, coming in at #11. The party single reached #2 on the charts in ’04, making it the young artist’s only Top 10 single. However, in 2006, J-Kwon did feature on Bow Wow‘s “Fresh Azimiz,” which peaked at #23.

Jibbs, another young midwest rapper came in at #31 with his 2006 single “Chain Hang Low.” Borrowing the melody from a well-known children’s song, Jibbs climbed to #7 on the charts. His next single, “King Kong” managed to reach #54 on the charts.

In 2002, Rakim featured on the single “Addictive” with singer Truth Hurts. The song was recorded for Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label, and was produced by DJ Quik. Coming in at #36 on Billboard’s list, the Hindi-inspired song peaked at #9 in ’02, but wasn’t enough to kick off the singer’s career.

Also making the list are MIMS at #4 with “This Is Why I’m Hot,” Rich Boy featuring Polow Da Don at #27 with “Throw Some D’s“, and Young Dro featuring T.I. at #39 with “Shoulder Lean.
