Hip-hop made for television movies are continuing to take big steps since MTV open the door with their original movie “Carmen: A Hip-Hopera” featuring Beyonce, Mos Def and Jermaine Dupri. MTV’s sister channel VH-1 will now be getting in on the act with their first made for television original hip-hop movie title “Play’d”. “Play’d” will focus on the friendship of two guys Jaxx and Mayhem, who are one of the East Coast hottest acts, as they seem to lose focus of what brought them together when one leaves to pursue a solo career on the west coast.
Once on the west coast he becomes wrapped up in a world of violence. Play’d not only has an all star cast including R & B singer’s Toni Braxton and Sharissa as well as Friday’s Fazion Love. Play’d will also be coming equipped with it’s own hip hop soundtrack with songs such as “Play with My Homies”, “Thug In A Box” and “Money and Ice”. “Play’d” will air for the first time on Vh-1 Wednesday June 26 at 9pm and re-air again Friday June 28th at eight p.m.
