Just two months after rapper N.O.R.E. [click to read] accused SMC Records of releasing unofficial material as S.O.R.E., another former Def Jam star, Freeway [click to read] denied the authenticity of his upcoming RBC Records release Streetz Iz Mine. Spokespeople from the California-based label released a statement asserting the album’s certification.

With a history of working with artists ranging from Ice Cube and Tech N9ne to Tha Realest and Nappy Roots, the label revealed some of the backstory on the release. Claiming that Freeway communicated extensively with the label throughout summer and fall, the label expounded, “During that time, RBC had received emails and other means of communication from Free himself. Until several weeks ago, there were no issues with the record that we were all excited about.  After receiving pressure from outside sources, Freeway then attempted to distance himself from the Streetz Is Mine project.
Notwithstanding this confusion, the project has moved forward and RBC has continued to push hard for its success that will do nothing but ultimately benefit Freeway in the long run. The accusations that this record is a ‘fraud’ or a ‘fake’ is nothing but 100% false.

The album is presently slated for November 10 release. The label revealed the 9th Wonder has contributed production, while State Property affiliates Beanie Sigel and Young Chris are both also involved.

Earlier this year, Freeway released a less publicized sequel to his acclaimed debut, Philadelphia Freeway on another California-based independent label.
