Ice Spice and Drake are in such a great space that the OVO head honcho is even mentoring the newcomer – despite previous reports that there were some issues between the two.

The “Munch” hitmaker appeared on Apple Music 1 for an in-depth conversation with Zane Lowe about her upcoming Like…? extended EP on Wednesday (July 19). On the topic of mentors, the Bronx rapper said she was receiving guidance from not only Drizzy but Nicki Minaj as well.

“[Drake and I] talk all the time and we’re always just laughing about some things that go on,” Ice Spice confirmed. “And I’ll ask him, ‘What should I do with this?’ Or, ‘How’d you go about this?’ or, ‘Did you ever experience that?’ And he’ll – I’m not going to give real examples, but – he’ll tell me, ‘I did this and you should do that too, because you can.’ And I’ll be like, ‘You’re right. Period. I’m going to do that.’ It’s like coach vibes.”

On Nicki, she said: “I feel like I am absorbing advice from her and learning from her and stuff. And she’ll tell me, ‘Learn from my mistake, do this or don’t do that,’ or whatever. And I just really pay attention to what she’s saying because if there’s anyone I’m going to listen to, it’s the queen!”

Drake and Ice Spice first linked in August 2022 after the 23-year-old caught the former’s attention with her breakout hit “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and freestyle on On the Radar Radio. This led to Drizzy flying her out to Toronto to attend his OVO Fest, where fans captured photos of Ice in the crowd.

Recalling the surprise encounter with Drake, she told Spotify’s RapCaviar at the time: “Linking up with him was so cool. Like, he’s mad nice and respectful. We went to OVO Fest. It was exciting because it was like his first time performing in Toronto, I think in like a couple of years. So it was just a movie, everybody was excited.”

However, eagle-eyed social media sleuths noticed that Drake unfollowed Ice Spice shortly afterward – then seemingly dissed her on “BackOutsideBoyz” off his Her Loss album with 21 Savage.

“She a 10 tryna rap, it’s good on mute,” Drake raps on the song, which prompted a response from Ice on Twitter when it dropped in November. “At least ima 10 [shrugging emoji] [laughing with tears emoji],” she tweeted.

But months later, Ice Spice shut down any notion of a rift when asked about the situation in an interview with The New York Times. “We’re cool,” she said. “We spoke after that a couple times and we’re good. There’s no beef.”

Up next for the “In Ha Mood” rapper is her first tour, serving as the opening act on Doja Cat’s Scarlet Tour arena trek later this year.

In the new interview with Zane Lowe, Ice opened up about how excited she is to hit the road and how she’s actually been manifesting this moment for years.

“I’m so excited!” she said of the tour. “The way she announced that and who was rolling out, I was like, ‘Okay, that might be the tour of the year.’ For you to be going out there and playing on a stage like that with someone who I feel had, in her own way, a similar experience.

“She came out and she was really counted out. People didn’t really understand the level of talent, the level of commitment, of hard work, of discipline. She’s proven that time and time again. Now no one doubts it anymore. It’s like she’s lived three lives in one life.”

She continued: “I love her down. I’m really a fan of her. My little sister put me onto her in 2018. Wow. And I remember watching her right before she actually blew up crazy. And I was watching her tour and she did a mini tour in Europe or something. And I was so inspired by her and just watching her, I was like, ‘Wow, I just know she’s going to be big.’ And then later that year, she was the biggest thing on the planet. Yeah. I think she’s better than me at that.”
