Ice Spice is currently enjoying a lot of success thanks to her catchy pop songs, but Insecure star Issa Rae doesn’t appear to be a fan.
During an interview with Vanity Fair — which Rae did prior to the SAG/AFTRA strike, but which dropped on the outlet’s TikTok on Wednesday (July 19) — the actor/producer quizzed her Barbie co-stars, including Margot Robbie and America Ferrera, about how much they knew about her.

“Who would sing/rap the theme song to my life?” she asked, before offering up clues that the artist she was thinking of was “alive” and “poppin’.”
After a bit of chatter back-and-forth, Ferrera suggested Ice Spice. But Rae was not amused. “America, no,” she said after a long, deep sigh.

After saying she “wouldn’t be mad” if Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, or Megan Thee Stallion did the honors, she commended her co-stars for their selections “for the most part,” seemingly throwing more shade Ice Spice’s way.

The comments on the TikTok were savage and swift, with many repeating, “America, no!” in the comments. Others, however, were fans of the ladies’ friendship, with one fan writing: “Okay but I also never want this press tour to end because this crew is my new favorite band.”
Still, others agreed with Megan Thee Stallion singing Rae’s life theme song, with one fan noting: “You know Meg rapping all our theme songs.”

While Issa Rae may not be a fan of Ice Spice, the rising Bronx rapper certainly has her fair share of supporters — chief amongst them being the aforementioned Minaj, who collaborated with the “Munch” rapper on the “Barbie World” song.
The pair, however, had to go through some things before they could get it together.
Earlier this month, the “Starships” rapper sashayed onto the pink carpet for the world premiere of the Barbie movie in Los Angeles, where she spilled the tea on how her collaboration with the rising star came to be.
“There were a couple songs that I didn’t love,” Nicki told Entertainment Tonight, revealing that she had her pick of the litter prior to falling in love with the winning beat.

“This ‘Barbie’ sample, I loved it. I just wanted it to have a dope drum, and so the one that they sent me, I loved! And I jumped on it right away,” she added, referencing the RiotUSA-produced track, which is built on a sample of Aqua’s 1997 smash hit “Barbie Girl.”
The Young Money rapper also referred to being a part of the Barbie soundtrack as a “very full-circle moment,” noting how she’s “been saying ‘Barbie’ my whole career.”
