Ice Cube, LL Cool J, The Roots Win NAACP Image Awards

In what would seem a laughable proposition in his NWA days, Ice Cube won an NAACP Image Award during the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards last night (March 5).

Cube won “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy” for his role in the movie Are We There Yet?

The west coast emcee wasn’t the only Hip Hop representative at the show, however, as LL Cool J was awarded “Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series” for his role in “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

Other awards included John Legend and The Roots for “Outstanding Collaboration” and “Outstanding Album” for their album Wake Up! Cartoonist Aaron McGruder snagged “Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series” for “The Boondocks.”

A full rundown of the event, including other winners can be found here.
