Ice Cube has listed off a few of his favorite rap songs of all time, shouting out DMX,Nas and others in the process.
The former N.W.A. legend stopped by Capital XTRA for an interview on Evenings with Omah Howard on Thursday (August 3). The interview was to promote the new animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, in which he stars as the villain SuperFly.

At one point in the conversation, Cube was asked to give his Mount Rushmore of rap songs, and the Rock And Roll Hall of Famer didn’t hesitate as he listed off his picks.
“I love ‘Rebel Without a Pause’ by Public Enemy, I go bananas over that,” Cube said. “I still love ‘The Show’ by Doug E. Fresh. That still goes crazy.”

Cube then rapped a few bars from “Party Up” by DMX before continuing his list: “Y’all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here,” he said. “That goes cray-cray. So, there are a few songs that go crazy. I like [‘Hate Me Now’] by Nas. That goes crazy.”

Elsewhere in his chat, Cube said it was really fun playing a villain role in the new kid’s film.
“Playing a villain is great,” Cube said. “There are no rules playing a villain so it was just fun to be able to let loose. Superfly is the king of New York, everybody knows his name in the streets. Nothing happens in New York without going through Superfly or it’s gonna be a problem.”

Meanwhile, Ice Cube hasn’t been having the best week, as he was recently accused of being a “sellout” once again for sitting down for an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Cube drove through his former stomping grounds of South Central Los Angeles with Carlson last month where they covered numerous topics including Barack Obama’s presidency, Black Lives Matter and the COVID-19 vaccine.
“I don’t believe in politicians,” the West Coast rap legend stated when asked if he’s ever donated to a political campaign. “Politicians have hidden agendas. They owe a lot of people a lot of favors. The more money you give them, the more you’re listened to.”
Ice Cube said he was proud to see Obama get elected as President of the United States in 2008 as he “didn’t think America would ever take that step” — but his enthusiasm didn’t last.

“I didn’t think they would do that, so that was a moment in time,” he said. “But then you look around and years go by and not much changed for people I know, people I care about… At the end of the day, it’s still the same results.”
Fans flocked to social media to express their disappointment at Cube for sitting down with Carlson. Cube has yet to respond to the pushback.
