Cube launched BIG3 in 2017 and the three-on-three basketball league has continued to grow despite facing a myriad of challenges.

In addition to delving into the business side of things, the docuseries will follow one team specifically in their quest for a championship à la HBO’s Hard Knocks NFL series.
The series will even explore BIG3’s 2018 lawsuit against their Qatari investors. The league sued Quinn Emanuel law firm for $1.2 billion, claiming they didn’t fulfill their investment promises and tried to take over operations.
Despite friction with the NBA, BIG3 boasts affiliations with plenty of hoop legends including Allen Iverson, Gary Payton, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Lisa Leslie, George Gervin and more. NBA Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler serves as the league’s commissioner.
BIG3’s 2023 season is set to kick off on June 25 and will make stops throughout the country in Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, NYC, Detroit, Memphis and Miami for the 10-week season.

“After two years of a semi-touring model, we are finally able to safely return to cities nationwide and bring the BIG3 back to the size of arenas where our fans want us the most,” Ice Cube said in a statement.
“We have tremendous momentum going into the sixth season, coming off of record ratings and numerous sold out games. We’ve been making moves this offseason – getting certified by ByBlack, renewing with CBS, and recruiting and signing all-star players – to put together the best season yet and we can’t wait to show these cities what the BIG3 is all about.”
