“Hip Hop’s Crown Jewels” To Go On Sale

Phillips de Pury and Company New York hill be holding the first-ever Hip Hop jewelry auction, titled “Hip Hop’s Crown Jewels,” on October 1, 2008, according to HipHopGame.com.

Since Hip Hop’s inception, its artists have worn some very unique pieces of jewelry, to say the least. Whether it was Ghostface Killah’s gold eagle arm bracelet or the popular dookie chains of the 80’s, there’s no question Hip Hop’s bling has been memorable.

Included in this auction are Biz Markie’s “Diamond Headphones Pendant,” as well as Missy Elliott’s “Diamond Turntable Ring.” MC Lyte’s “Nefertiti Ring” and “Nefertiti Necklace” will also be on sale. Both pieces can be seen in the video for one of her greatest hits, “Cha Cha Cha.”

But the most anticipated piece comes from perhaps the bling-iest emcee of them all, Slick Rick. This auction gives a bidder the chance to own Slick Rick’s famous “Multicolor Diamond Eye Patch.”

The auction charitably supports Rush Community Affairs, Russel Simmons’ coalition of nonprofit organization. 70 pieces will be sold in the auction, including pieces previously worn by:
