Hip Hop Digital Singles Sales: The Week Ending 5/20/2012

In addition to album sales, HipHopDX now shares some Digital Singles charts highlights each Wednesday. This week’s big addition came from Shady Records’ Slaughterhouse, who have Cee-Lo Green’s assistance on their Corona-interpolating “My Life,” which nearly nabbed a Top 50 spot. Along with Pop-friendly artists such as Flo Rida, Pitbull and Nicki Minaj, E-40’s Block Brochure: Welcome To The Soil Volume 2 single remained poppin’ on the charts.

Flo Rida Continues The Digital Reign

Holding a Top 5 spot in its 21st overall week on the charts, Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones” continues to be a download-draw. The Atlantic Records artists’ second single from the album of the same name follows the success of “Good Feelin’.” The track is co-produced by Axwell of Swedish House Mafia. Wild Ones, due in July, will follow up Flo Rida’s 2010 third album, Only One Flo (Part 1), which failed to score a Top 100 debut as an album. This week, Flo released a video to third single “Whistle.”

Slaughterhouse & Cee-Lo’s “My Life” Makes Strong Debut

At #55, “My Life” is a strong second single to the foursome’s sophomore album, and first for Shady/Interscope Records. The Streetrunner-produced track interpolates Italian Dance-Pop duo Corona’s 1994 hit “Rhythm Of The Night.” This follows “Hammer Dance” as Slaughterhouse makes way for Welcome To Our House, which is still reportedly planned for June release – despite only recently being confirmed complete.

    1. Thank you HipHopDX for doing singles charting now too. If anything it’s more relevant than album charting, but having both helps us plan Juice Radio’s rotation accordingly.

      1. Both are relevant to the music execs……people like you don’t understand the big picture, so please stfu.

    2. STARSHIP ALMOST AT 2 MIL NICKI IS A MONSTER. SHOUT OUT TO FLO RIDA. DRAKE AND 2 CHAINS DOIN BETTER THAN THAT SLAUGHTER HOUSE TRACK THATS A GOOD LOOK

      1. LOL!!! 3. flo rida is the 50 cent of the digital download game. that nigga sold 60 million singles worldwide.

      1. Um, 50 Cents hasn’t sold a large amount of albums since his second album. 50 Cent, MC Hammer and Nelly are all in the same boat. “Had a spark when they started but now their just garbage.

    4. NIGGA WHAT. Now i get why everybody
rich. Singles sales keep them running.
I thought album sales where a joke,
but this is clearly the digital era.

    5. Why would you even post this or even album sales? if the music is good then listen to it if you dnt like it dnt…. they judge everything on sales now which is sad! this aint music! this is business!

      1. i’m sure when ur favorite rappers were selling alot of music, you cared about record sales. stfu, u loser.

    6. Man dis just sad this shit shows niggas can’t sell albums dat nigga flo got talent but can get a gold album 2 save his life but its cool I guess next thing u no they gonna get rid of da album sales article altogether smfh

    7. On another note smfh at slaughterhouse single sales dat means the album is gonna go double plastic straw dam they got talent 2 its ashame rappers gotta resort 2 shows and sponsers just 2 make a good livin dat they lie about n there raps

      1. IT’S ONLY BEEN 1 WEEK

HOW CAN U TELL IF AN ALBUM IS GONNA SELL

OFF OF SOME NUMBERS FROM 1 WEEK OF DOWNLOADS FROM A SINGLE

        STOP REACHIN

    8. So, Nicki Minaj has sold about 4 million digital copies and 1 million physical copies of singles off of Roman Reloaded?? That is an amazing thing to do. I just thought labels were only selling albums. She is almost gold with the album, so Universal is eating very well.

      1. CASH MONEY IS EATING VERY WELL STRAIGHT DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH UNIVERSAL BEST DEAL IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC CASH MONEY GOT

    9. Cash Money Records has been doing great business since 1997 and they will continue to so, long after Nicki and Drake are retired (no longer hot). However, know one will ever do it like Motown Records and No Limit Records, because those historic labels made black music history.

    10. Notice that the top 3 records are dance/pop songs. I guess hip-hop doesn’t sell that much nowadays. Oh, well. It’s nothing new. Pop music sells.

    12. Flo ride has 2 million downloads, that’s like about 2 million dollar revenue for a single. And these artits are still complaining about how the internet f*ck’d up their sales. They’re just money hungry b*tches, complaining that they can’t live large from your money.
