During a call to New York’s Hot 97, Eminem informed Angie Martinez that he was still unsure about his recording future. While rumors of a 2008 full-length LP entitled King Mathers were squashed by Eminem’s camp, “Slim Shady” didn’t completely rule out future recordings either. As he congratulated 50 Cent on the release of Curtis, Em stated he was “in limbo” and “debating” about releasing more music.
VH1 is assembling a list of past and present Hip-Hop heavyweights for a celebrity basketball tournament. Hip-Hop Honors Celebrity Hoops will be held October 7 at Long Island University. The event will feature MC’s such as Common and Dana Dane along with Swizz Beatz, Tiffany Pollard (a.k.a. “New York”) and Melyssa Ford. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. and general admission tickets are $10.
Last, but not least, Knowbody, the first artist from Hieroglyphics’Triple i League is scheduled to release his album, Tha Clean Up, on September 18. Those familiar with the Bay Area will recognize Knowbody from his legendary run during Phillip Drummond’s Beats, Rhymes & Life Song Competition at the Elements Lounge. Having successfully emerged from the Hiero compound, Knowbody sounds like he’s looking past the so-called backpacker image.
“Ain’t nothing wrong with intelligent music. I guess that’s what backpack is–when you use more vocabulary,” says Knowbody. “If that’s the case, I hope Triple i don’t change a thing.”
