Snoop is once again branching out, this time with the Muppets. Snoop will be make a special appearance in “A Very Muppet Christmas,” a made for TV movie. Snoop had this to say about it, “I seen the script. It’s tight. It’s just kids’ stuff, ya know. You know that I’m saying, just something for the kids. And I got three kids. So I think I’m going to take my kids with me out there so they can meet him too, you know. And do something special. Yeah, me and Kermit The Frog. Imagine that.”…

Word is that Canadian emcee Saukrates has finished recording his sophomore LP. According to hiphopsite, Def Jam is deciding between four tracks as potential singles. Production is handled Saukrates, Redman, Erick Sermon and a possible DJ Khalil beat. Big Sox is looking at March release…

It looks like Chuck D and Public Enemy can still cause some controversy. According to PE’s DJ Johnny Juice Rosado, MTV’s standards committee has refused to play Public Enemy’s new single. They have rejected “Give The Peeps What They Need” because of Chuck’s line of “free Mumia and H Rap Brown.” In order to get the video played they would have to remove that line and all the images of the two political prisoners from the video. Tame One is not the only Artifact that is releasing a solo album, former partner in rhyme El De Sensei will be dropping an LP as well.
“Relax, Relate, Release” will drop on Seven Heads Recordings on October 15th. Look for guest appearances from Pharoahe Monch, Sadat X, J-Live, FT, Prince Po, Mike Zoot, Asheru and others…

Hip hop’s oriental representatives, the Mountain Brothers, are in negotiations with a number of labels for the release of their sophomore LP. The still untitled release will follow up their critically acclaimed independent LP “Self, Vol. 1.” They hope to have it out by the end of the year. Chops also has a solo album coming out on Vocab records. The producer/emcee collaboes with Ras Kass, Talib Kweli, Raekwon, Mystic, Grand Agent, Bahamadia and the Mountain Brothers…
