Gunna has worked with some of the most talented artists in Hip Hop since he entered the circuit a decade ago, and the story behind one of his strongest alliances has now come to light.
The 30 year old recently dropped his fourth studio LP, A Gift & a Curse, and the cut “fukumean” quickly became one of the biggest hits off the album’s tracklist. Following its success, an old clip of the Atlanta rapper meeting one of the song’s coproducers for the first time resurfaced.

In the clip, Gunna pulls up to outside a studio where he noticed a man standing holding a sign to grab his attention. It read: “I Produced a Song for Gunna.” When questioned further, the beatmaker, who introduced himself as Dunk Rock, revealed that he had also worked on “Cooler Than a Bitch” from 2020’s WUNNA.
“You did it with TrePounds?” the passenger next to Gunna asked. “Oh, you did the melody?”

The Grammy-nominated artist recently treated fans to a visual supplement for “fukumean,” which also doubled as a first look at his body transformation. On Wednesday (July 5), he put out a music video for the hit — a standard Hip Hop package centered on glamor and luxury.
Gunna, who was recently released from prison after taking a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, seems to be making the most of his freedom. In the video, he can be seen in a sex store with his friends as they prepare for a party on his yacht, which is what the song then plays over.
Soon after his album dropped, Gunna posted on his Instagram Story to share that he’d reached a significant milestone in sales. He claimed to have had the “biggest first week for an album with no features since 2021,” for which he thanked his fans. Later, he shared a post from a fan account reporting that his record had once again topped the Apple Music charts.
Though Gunna may still have lingering naysayers and doubters, Joe Budden believes that he outshined Young Thug, Lil Baby and Lil Durk with his new LP.

During an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the former Slaughterhouse member and his co-hosts discussed Thug’s new album, Business is Business, and debated whether it matched up to Gunna’s own new offering.
The crew were in agreement that despite the narrative that he snitched on Young Thug, his new project is better than Thug, Baby (It’s Only Me) and Durk’s (Almost Healed) latest releases.
