Beverly Hills, CA

Gunna has been teasing his return with another project along with new music for 2024 and he provided a brief peek into what fans can expect.

TMZcaught the YSL rapper walking around in Beverly Hills on Wednesday (January 10) where he was tight-lipped about the prospects of his next LP.

Asked what fans should anticipate from his upcoming batch of tunes, he briefly replied, “Substance.”

Gunna added there will be plenty of collaborators joining him on his next project: “A lot of different artists.”

While he didn’t disclose too much, he did tease that he’ll be exploring and stepping more fully into the Afrobeats space in 2024, just weeks after notching a collab with Sars and Asake.

Gunna sparked hope for new music in the new year when he hopped into RapCaviar’s Instagram comments earlier this month and left a note after the outlet posed the question, “@ a rapper who needs to drop in 2024.”

The Atlanta native chimed in, tagged himself, and said “soon.” Spotify replied to Gunna’s comment with the eyes emoji.

In December, Gunna was selected by HipHopDX as having the comeback of the year for 2023.

For a while, many doubted that the 30-year-old would be able to climb his way back to the heights he achieved just 11 months prior when he earned his first No. 1 album with DS4Ever. Some even wondered whether his career was over altogether.

With the release of his third album A Gift & A Curse in June, though, Gunna silenced the critics and proved that not even snitching allegations can drown the Drip King.

Loaded with infectious, hard-hitting anthems and a defiant edge that’s reflected in its lack of guest features, the project peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart while its platinum-certified single “Fukumean” cracked the Top 5 on the Hot 100 chart, becoming one of the biggest (and unlikeliest) rap hits of 2023.

Gunna also delivered two sold-out — and impressively put-together — arena shows in New York City and Los Angeles, proving the line of people still riding with him outnumber those ready to tear him down.

While the Grammys snubbed him in terms of nominations, Gunna had the biggest comeback of 2023 and he has shown no sign of slowing down moving into the new year.
