GloRilla Applauded For Removing R-Word From New Song Following Backlash

GloRilla responded to a budding controversy by listening and responding to criticism — and got a ton of praise in return.

The Memphis spitter shared a song snippet earlier this week on social media, and her word choice in it caught some fans by surprise.

“Ho, you must not know what you started/ Me and my bitch retarded,” it begins.

Some fans, a few of whose responses were caught by The Neighborhood Talk, were disappointed in Glo’s use of the r-word, calling it “offensive,” “derogatory,” and a “slur.”

By the time Big Glo shared another teaser of the song, via an on-the-grid Instagram post, the offending word had been replaced with the phrase “go naughty.” You can view it for yourself here.

Comments on the revamped lyric were extremely positive.

“I love how you changed the R word out the song. I wasn’t offended but that’s real,” one person wrote.

“Awwww she changed the lyrics just in case it did hurt someone’s feelings [clapping hands emoji] [praise hands emoji],” another typed.

“Glad you changed it,” added a third.

In other Glo news, last month she gave “TGIF” a meteorological remix, recruiting weatherman Nick Kosir to help spice up the track.

The duo unveiled the clever version of Glo’s hit single on July 12.

The “FNF” rapper stopped by Fox 46 in Charlotte, North Carolina and began: “It’s 7 PM Friday, it’s 95 degrees, referencing her track,” before Kosir, who also goes by The Dancing Weatherman, cued up the “TGIF” beat and spat some bars.

He rapped: “I ain’t got no sunburn ‘cus I got sunscreen on me/ I’ma show my forecast for the rest of the week/ How are we gonna cool off in this kind of heat?/ Turn on all the fans/ Turn on the A/C.” Kosir may have a career in the Hip-Hop business if this weatherman gig doesn’t work out.
