Gillie Da Kid sparked debate in the Hip Hop community after he voiced his opinion that aspiring rappers should hang up their mics for an alternate career if they’re not gaining traction by a certain age.

03 Greedo joined Gillie and Wallo for an episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Gameover the weekend where they spoke on ageism in the rap game.

“Fucking right there’s an age limit to rap… If you ain’t poppin’ by a certain age, let that shit go. Muthafuckas be like all the time, ‘Yo Gil, your platform crazy this the perfect time drop something now.’

“Shut the fuck up, man. Fuck is you talking about? Do I look like a n-gga that’s holding onto yesterday, n-gga? Or do I look like a n-gga that’s elevating? And escalating, n-gga. And glowing and growing. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Let me drop another debut album at 46. Get the fuck out of here. That is not me. That is for n-ggas that can only rap. Fuck all that. I got bigger and better shit that I’m gon’ climb and try to climb and get to. I’m not no n-gga that’s trying to live no throwback Thursday, man.

“If you ain’t got no traction at all by a certain age and you still doing this shit. Loser.”

The Hip Hop Wolfreposted Gillie’s controversial remarks and plenty of fans pushed back against the former rapper’s narrative.

“Sounds bitter. He projecting,” rapper Apollo Lofton wrote while another added: “Dmx was 27 on his first album. jay-z was 25. conway didn’t blow up until he was in his mid/late 30s. this is bullsh*t and i call [cap].”

One follower chimed in: “This is goofy advice.. Let people have their dreams.”

Meanwhile, last month, Gillie was out in his hometown of Philly while blessing kids with cash and urging them to find a career or passion and stay out of the streets. One girl said she’d be going straight home after receiving her cash.
