Gillie Da Kid is not here for any “Best Black Podcasts” lists, whether his Million Dollaz Worth of Game show is on them or not.

The MDWoG co-host posted a long video to Instagram on Thursday (January 11) in response to seeing his show featured on an (unnamed) list of best Black podcasts. He had two main issues with the placement.

First, that there was even a list of best Black podcasts at all — a conceit he referred to as “Black-on-Black crime.”

“I never seen the top white podcasts of 2023,” he said. “I never seen that pop up, because they could just live in they own space. They ain’t in no competition with each other.”

Second, Gillie objected to his show being called a “podcast” at all.

“[W]e not no fucking podcast, let’s get that right. We one of the biggest media outlets in the fucking world,” he said emphatically.

The main reason he said that MDWoG shouldn’t be referred to as a podcast is because the show’s team puts on live events and has business interests outside of the program.

“Do y’all know another podcast that do Gillie Fest? That bring 15 artists plus Meek Mills [sic] and DaBaby?” he asked.

The inaugural Gillie Fest took place last July at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia.

“Can you tell me another podcast that do Gillie and Wallo K.O. parties where you sit 3,000 n-ggas in a arena and do 37,000 pay-per-view buys to see some n-ggas from the streets fight?” he continued.

“Do another podcast out there got the fastest-growing fucking energy drink in the world — not in the United States, in the world?” he said, referring to PureFuel. “So we not no mothafuckin’ podcast.”

At the end of his speech, Gillie Da Kid said that he objected to his show being referred to as a podcast because he didn’t want the duo or their work to be easily classified.

“Stop trying to put us in a fucking box because it ain’t a box out here big enough to fit us in. Shit, [MDWoG co-host] Wallo was just in jail trying to box n-ggas off his ass, and then he come home and y’all want to put him in another box? Stop that shit.”
