The Game, Hit-Boy, and Big Hit have joined forces for a surprise project titled Paisley Dreams — stream it below.
In the early hours of Monday (January 1), The Game took to Instagram to reveal that he had quietly crafted a new album with the father-son duo during a recent visit to Hit’s studio.
“I pulled on @hitboy & @bighit 3 days ago to do 1 song… stayed a few hours & ended up doing a 9 song tape that night,” he wrote.
“I’m not here to ask you to stream it or download it. I’m just a man, telling his fans a story about last night & the night before.”
Hit-Boy offered more backstory in his own IG post, adding: “The Game pulled up on me and Big Hit 4 days ago and i was thinking maybe we ask him to get on the ‘Bang Freestyle’ remix or something at MOST.
“But instead he locked in with us for the rest of the night and we made a 9 song album.”
Paisley Dreams, the title of which nods to The Game and Big Hit’s L.A. gang affiliations, features guest appearances from fellow California natives Dom Kennedy and TeeFlii.
It marks The Game’s first album since 2022’s Drillmatic and comes after another prolific year for Hit-Boy, who in 2023 dropped two projects with Nas (Magic 2 and Magic 3), a collaborative project with Musiq Soulchild (Victims & Villains) and two installments in his Surf or Drown series.
Big Hit is also fresh off the release of his debut solo album, The Truth Is In My Eyes, which is the first Hip Hop album to have been produced entirely by the son of the artist whose album it is.
Currently available only via Big Hit’s website, the project was largely written during the rapper’s nine-year prison bid that ended in May 2023.
It boasts guest spots from Snoop Dogg, Benny The Butcher, The Alchemist, Mozzy, Jay Worthy and others.
Was hesitant but this album dope. Big Hit is dope. In a perfect reality, if this dropped along with the few hot joints on Drillmatic included, but before Drillmatic, it would’ve been 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’d love to be an Oreo cookie with Kanye and the Game. Just saying, no homo
🔥🔥🔥🔥👈
Damn… Big Hit sounds a lot like Nipsey Hussle. Or I should say, Nipsey sounds (sounded) a lot like Big Hit. I doubt there was any influence rubbed off on either one, but the voice and delivery have a lot of similarities. Got me thinking about rappers that sound similar. Obie Trice and Red Cafe. Your old Droog sounds like Nas and Game. Game sounds exactly like whatever rapper is featured on the same track as him. He can do Nas, Dre, Jeezy, Cole. He admittedly does it on purpose and calls himself a chameleon of rap features. Call it biting, but I don’t see it that way. He adjusts to the the featured artists approach to the beat and it gives the track a cohesive sound. He doesn’t get the love he deserves. He’s an incredibly talented rapper but it’s overshadowed by his erratic and unpredictable behavior. Game’s the equivalent version of a gangster rap Kanye West.
