G-Dep Given Temporary Release From Prison To Attend Father’s Funeral

Just under four years after being sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for a crime he committed in 1993, former Bad Boy Records rapper G-Dep was temporarily released from prison last week to attend the funeral and burial services of his recently passed father.

In 2010, G-Dep, whose given name is Trevell Coleman, turned himself in for a robbery-turned-fatal-shooting that he committed in 1993. Years after the crime Coleman featured on Black Rob’s Life Story and then released his own debut in 2001. After pleading not guilty to the second-degree murder charge that stemmed from his confession, Dep’s lawyer said the rapper was trying “get things right between himself and God” and that the not guilty plea was a matter of procedure so that the court could investigate the confession which was possibly made under the influence of drugs, according to Billboard.

During his temporary release last week G-Dep reunited with his two sons and ex-wife Crystal Sutton. Sutton spoke with AllHipHop about the occasion, saying, “Dep has not seen his sons in a little over 4 years. Yes he calls regularly and he sees pictures of them growing, but being in their presence, the same room, next to each other is such a different feel.”

Sutton spoke further about the short visit G-Dep was granted with his children.

“They finally had the chance to sit down with their father, shackled or not I could see that they were determined,” she said. “All that nervous energy seemed to melt away. They both showed him video after video of animations they had made. Visitors gained Trevell’s attention for a moment, but the boys made sure that their father stayed close. [Once] our time was up, Trevell had to go back. That one hour visit felt like 10 minutes. I could see the expression on the boys face change from happy to a worried look.”

    1. ever notice that puffy as soft as ppl talk bout him seems to always sign the most street niggas around…..

French Montana – DVD seller…..yea guess he dropped the ball there lol

      1. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence that every single person around him seems to end up doing lengthy federal prison sentences and he stays clean while getting no attention from the authorities……after he makes as much money as he possibly can off their relationships

      2. because y’all lack maturity and experience. it’s quite obvious puff’s dad had serious pull & puff’s money gets him in doors y’all don’t know exist. I’m not gonna sit & explain to you the deep & decades old connection the music industry has with the underworld either beyond who do you think owned the clubs & supplied the drugs and protection

      1. yeah but he confessed after doody used him up and threw him away like a piece of trash, left him broke, desperate and addicted to drugs

      2. he was already an addict before he met puffy because he was trying to numb out poverty and killing a man. him getting a recording deal, a hit song, money and a family didn’t heal his guilty conscience. you don’t understand that because you’re a little boy typing doody on the internet, rehashing the same old gossip because you have zero experience.

      3. Puffy aint got nothing to do with G Deps pillowtalk with his ex wife,…like masturbation he did it to himself!!!..
Hope G Dep found peace with himself still!!!…I would carry this burden and let nothing come in between me and my children periot!!!…thats how i feel…

    2. Man He fucked himself over and over again,..pillowtalk with his ex-wife got him where he is,…
Even the biggest gangster wouldnt say shit about the dirt they did in the streets,..real talk!!!..
Yet Cops kill innocent men allday,,,theres no cop turning himself in,..or pillowtalk about it,they be continuing living theire lives raising theire kids like nothing ever happend,…mind you 93 there was no mutch cameras around as today,..
      Donkey of the century!!!!

      1. Funny that you think the “pillowtalk” between him and his ex is what fucked him. I would say killing another person was probably what fucked him…
