    1. The media and record labels have gotten together and made promotion more important than talent. Nowadays any artist who gets the right promotion and exposure will do well.

    2. I don’t respect any of those clowns. Rappers used to battle with rhymes now they just blog post memes on Instagram. It’s pathetic.

    3. need good ones. budden is a shrill just looking to cash in, Charlamagne is just a rapist, Akademiks is just corny and ebro tries way to hard to be edgy

    4. Ummm.. since we all know who owns all the media, i find it deeply antisemitic to claim media has influence over something. That’s just a antisemitic conspiracy theory. Media never has any hidden agenda and they never lie or try to manipulate the masses, for example justify bombing middle-east for false claims of wmd’s or a country’s legal leader gassing his own people etc. Also media is always unbiased and truthful, remember if you claim otherwise you are antisemite because they own all the media.

    5. Yes, we are very aware of how the media controls people’s perception on a product, medium, or person. However, I don’t think you can give much credit to Charlemagne and Joe Budden. They do influence hip hop culture but they don’t dictate the taste hip hop audience have. If that was the case, the people you just mention in your article would be having a bad time and last time I check, Drake and others were doing just fine in their genre.

I will say this, I wish they had more influence over audience’s taste because I actually like their taste in music but the audience choose what they like, no more can a rapper say that the media is holding him down, get you a sound cloud account and build your audience, the money will come regardless of how your talent is perceived. In the case of some rappers, the lack their of, just sayin.
