Twitter was set ablaze on Wednesday (May 12) after Joe Budden fired his Joe Budden Podcast co-host Rory during the latest episode. According to Budden, both Rory and Mal had unrealistic demands he simply refused to meet.
“Since Rory feels like he has so many options here, somehow he still feels like he’s running the show,” Budden said. “He feels like he’s entitled to more. Rory, you are in breach of your contract. And from this point forward, you are fired, and you are not welcome back.”
Shortly after the news started circulating, Rory took to Twitter to briefly address the podcast controversy in a series of tweets, promising to go more in-depth soon.
“Mannn .. what an era,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone that listened, supported, told their friends about us, bought a subscription, ticket, or merch .. any value starts & ends with y’all .. I’ll get to that messy shit soon but in the meantime I’m here to celebrate an amazing run!! Love.”
Rory followed up with, “I just read that back and it sounded like the Bow Wow ‘Thank You’ record smfh [pouring tears crying emoji].”
Naturally, Budden wasn’t quiet either and fired off his own series of tweets.
“Friend or not, I’m NEVER funding someone’s sabotage of me, that will NEVER happen,” he wrote. “I get far away from the threat…. You can think piece until your face turns blue.”
He then added the episode in question, which was allegedly taken down one hour after it was published, could be found on Patreon.
While the implosion of The Joe Budden Podcast came as somewhat of a shock, there were signs. In March, Rory and Mal were noticeably absent after they decided to go “on strike.”
During Episode 425, the aptly titled “Tea Leaves,” Budden and interim co-hosts Ice and Savon broached the topic, but Budden appeared confident they’d return.
“I’ll eliminate some of the suspense,” he said around the 16-minute mark. “Rory and Mal aren’t here, but this is Rory’s seat — this is not Ice’s seat — and this is Mal’s seat. Whenever they feel like returning to their seats, then they’ll return to their seats, then I can go back to work. And then what will happen is the same thing when your star player comes back to the team.”
He continued, “Sometimes in friendship and business, everyone needs to take a step back and go to their respective corners. Sometimes everyone’s perspective and perception on how to go about that and how it should be executed is different.”
Evidently, they just couldn’t work it out. Find a clip of Budden firing Rory below.
so what…rory can be replaced…easily
Rory was part of what that podcast what it was. Not sure why you think he can just be replaced. The three of them had real chemistry. Not Rory’s fault that Joe can’t practice what he preaches. Sounds like a homie talk just went bad. Joe don’t ever like being called out on his bullshit. I like Joe, but he acting like a child whenever it suits him to wipe his hands clean. First person to talk about mental health, but wants to act like this.
So you don’t see a problem with Rory wanting YouTube money after joe gave him and Mal the opportunity to post the content on their own YouTube page and Rory turned that down you don’t see a problem with Rory wanting to but into something that’s not for sale you see no problem with Rory acknowledging he’s been overpaid over the years yet still wants more money he got rich off the pod working part time be real my dude joe is not the culprit here.
Buy*
I don’t have receipts for any of this. So I can’t comment on it. What I do know is that Joe is always a common denominator when his business deals and relationships fall apart. Rory is the anomaly. I am not saying this because I don’t like Joe. I listen to his music, and up until mid 2020 I listened to the pod twice a week. For the things Joe says and talks about; he does not really represent those views. Much like Puff. That whole meltdown is the end of an era.
The money for any distributor/platform is Joe x DJ Akademiks. Joe’s “friends” are for a barbershop setting.
Whoever watches these these gossiping men sitting around acting like they on the talk, hold this L
Facts. I didnt even know shot was still on. Who could sit there & listen to Budden’s fake outrage ass for the clout smdh
Glad joe dropped the dead weight. Mal is A dependent and A leach.. Rory is A industry fan boy and was never really Joe’s friend. Fuckem both
Why you put Joe Balden photo when it’s about some guy called Rory thou?
Bring back Ice and Ish!
