The “Didn’t Cha Know” singer reposted a video of Hill accepting the award and wrote: “We celebrate you. You weathered the storm L boogie. @mslaurynhill. Your best work is still in u. I see u.”

Apple’s Ebro Darden presented the award to Lauryn Hill in person at a dinner in New York earlier this week after her 1998 album beat out the likes of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, The Beatles’ Abbey Road and Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life.

She reacted by saying: “Thank you very much. This is my award, but it’s a rich, deep narrative and involves so many people and so much sacrifice and so much time and so much collective love. This is as much mine as it is yours. This is our celebration.”

Hill also dedicated the award to her mother who was stood by her side.

Lauryn Hill has yet to release a follow-up album, but fans were given renewed hope earlier this month thanks to comments from her son YG Marley.

During a brief chat with TMZ following their performance on The Tonight Show, Marley was asked about a potential new album from his mom and said: “Music’s on the way.”

When asked if he would be involved in the creation of the project, he replied: “I guess we’ll have to see.”

Hill herself also appeared to suggest that new music is on the way by nodding her head when quizzed about her son’s remarks.
