Just a few weeks before D-12 released the “Devils Night,” Eminem’s Interscope imprint,”Shady Records,” signed Obie Trice. The signing of the indie hero was overshadowed by the upcoming album, but Slim wisely made the last minute addition of the Obie Trice skit just to keep heads on the look out.
Don’t expect Obie to play second fiddle to D-12 though, he will demand attention. For those who have heard his singles like “Well Known Asshole,” “Respect,” “Gimme Back My DAT’s” and “Mr Trice” would probably agree that Obie is more talented than any member of D-12 not named Eminem. He attacks the mic with a ferociousness that is matched by very few and his battle rhymes are nothing to fuck with.
Word is that Obie Trice has nearly completed his debut album, look for production from label mates, Eminem and Kon Artis as well as Rockwilder and a newcomer named Emile. The LP is still untitled and a release day has not been set. If they are smart about it, they should have Obie make a guest appearance on Slim’s album and make the second or third single and then release his album in early July (assuming that Slim’s drops in April.) Be on the look out.
